Christianity proclaims that to get to heaven and have eternal life, one must follow the teachings of Jesus and accept him into their heart.

 

My question is, if putting your utmost faith into Jesus is a requirement for admittance into Heaven, then what happened to all those people who lived before Jesus (prior to 2007 years ago)?  Since Jesus didn’t exist back in those days did they all go to Hell? Did God give them a free pass? Or did someone before Jesus die for their sins?

Yes we have to accept Jesus Christ the "Messiah" the "One" to pay the price for our sins. Those who were born before Jesus Christ walked upon earth, had to believe in the Messiah that was yet to come. We have to believe in the Messiah that has allready came.

It is not works or deeds or money, etc. that gets us into heaven, but the trust [faith] we place in the Messiah who is jesus Christ.

All those people who died before Jesus went to hell but where in Abraham's bosom so they did not suffer. When Jesus was resurrected he went to hell and retrieved those who where in Abraham's bosom and took them to heaven.

What Jesus did is for all time.. and it is accepted by faith not our perfection.. I agree with the Rev above.. There was things that the people of the Old testament had to do... that is before Jesus came and died.. They followed the law of God.. and this law saved them.. through the shedding of blood of animals.. They were looking to the coming Messiah.. He shed His blood and lived and died and rose again.. so death could be conquered forever.. and we could forever..

Jesus does not want anyone in Hell.. that is why He came.. so that there was a way for all people to come to heaven.. He took all that was wrong with us.. sin on Himself.. Trading places with us.. and giving us freedom and life..
He doesn't send anyone to Hell.. and I read in His Word the bible.. that He gives everyone a chance to come to Him.. He is just and fair.. and loving.. so He would not just let people go without giving them a chance to go His way..

His way is very very good though.. not just a saving from Hell.. It is a peace, purpose and knowledge of all that He is.. and even though alot of stuff sucks major time down here on earth.. We can have hope and joy through Jesus..
We can truly get to know Jesus as a friend and yet a Saviour.. He is with us always.. and you realise how great He is.. and just what He has done for all of us.. That makes us want to share His love wherever we go.. And do our best to stop anyone going to Hell.. Because honestly Hell was not meant for any human at all.. it was only meant for Satan and his demons.. But many have traded life with God for Satan.. and if we blame anyone for taking people to Hell.. it is the devil..

God gave us all free will.. a choice.. and so many fail to make it.. and like our life.. there is consequences for mistakes here.. Spiritual life is no different..

In order to give us free rein.. and God gave the angels a choice too.. When Satan rebelled.. God had to punish him.. a

and therefore Hell was created.. But Satan got mad and wanted to get even.. so he came to earth and tried to get back at God and take as many with him to Hell.. and so the story goes.. Jesus saves Wendy.. He loves.. and He wants everyone to go with Him to heaven..
